Created in 2022, A Still Life consists of self-portraits translated into representations of antique furniture drawn from my personal collection. The furniture—drawn from Victorian, early twentieth-century, and mid-century traditions—functions as both metaphor and surrogate body. These objects carry histories of use, labor, and permanence.

This series represents a transitional phase in my practice. It reflects a period of growth marked by uncertainty, forward momentum without a fixed destination. Formally, the work allowed me to expand my engagement with linen as a surface and collage as a structural method. I tested the material limits of both, pushing them to a point of resistance.

A Still Life situates the self as object, weight, and presence, while signaling a shift toward greater material experimentation.
