Already Dead (2021) marks both an origin point and a closure within my practice. The series is rooted in acts of reconstruction and reimagination, drawing from my personal family archives to depict ordinary domestic scenes. These images function as sites of inquiry through which I examined familial relationships, inherited trauma, and processes of psychological repair.
By reworking archival photographs through painting, I engaged in a deliberate recontextualization of memory—transforming private documentation into reflective objects. The act of painting became a method of analysis and release. Upon completing the series, I reached a position of understanding that allowed for detachment and resolution.
In its current life, Already Dead operates beyond autobiography. The work is intended as a space of recognition for viewers, offering the possibility of introspection and emotional reconciliation. In this sense, the series aims to foster individual reflection as a contribution toward collective well-being.
